What type of job are you looking for?
I am actively seeking new employment opportunities, particularly indoor roles within retail stores, warehouses, or office environments.
Are you ambitious?
I have always been ambitious. Before becoming a carer for a relative, I returned to university at the age of 31 to pursue a career in design. Unfortunately, the recession significantly reduced opportunities within the industry, particularly for those who did not own a studio, and employers tended to favour younger graduates. More recently, the rise of AI has further reduced opportunities within design and freelance work. While my career path changed, my work ethic and drive remain strong.
What is your motivation?
I am looking for a role that offers stability and security. I am currently working on a long-term, five-year project to restore my family home, so having steady employment is very important to me.
What do you like about working?
I enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in contributing to a shared goal. There is no better feeling than completing a good shift, knowing everything is on target and the job has been done properly.
Do you like working on your own?
While I am capable of working independently, I work best as part of a team and enjoy the sense of achievement that comes from meeting goals together.
Is there anything you would not like to do?
Due to a hearing disability, I prefer to avoid roles that rely heavily on telephone work, particularly when contacting unfamiliar people. I have no issues using the phone with family, friends, or familiar contacts.
Do you know how to use a computer?
Yes. I am confident using both PC and Mac operating systems.
What software programs are you familiar with?
I am proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and basic Excel. I also use tools such as Canva and Kapwing. Additionally, I can build websites using WordPress and Joomla and have experience working with e-commerce platforms including Wix and Shopify.
Pet hates
Rudeness and ignorance.
Your hero
Ray Reardon, six-time Snooker World Champion. I met him in 1990 at a snooker exhibition when I was around 12 years old and just starting out in the sport. Watching him play was like watching a magician. Four years later, I attended one of his coaching weeks, which remains a standout memory. I still have a photo of Ray that takes pride of place in my mancave.
Favourite song
I enjoy classic tracks from ABBA and the Bee Gees, as well as Freed From Desire by Gala. More recently, I’ve developed an appreciation for country music, particularly artists such as Luke Combs and Chris Young.
Favourite films
Superman II, Batman, and The Shawshank Redemption.
Hobbies
I play Blackball pool and train once a week at boxing to keep fit.
Favourite drink
Since having a gastric sleeve operation, I rarely drink alcohol. My favourites are Diet Coke and vodka, with Baileys as an occasional guilty pleasure.
Favourite food
Spaghetti Bolognese with grated mature cheese.
Anything else?
I enjoy buying and selling vintage toys, particularly from the 1970s and 1980s. There is a real buzz in finding a rare toy or comic.
